Why You Need to be Shopping at Target Right Now & Styling Advice

Hello everyone, and welcome back.

Today we’re going to briefly talk about three little words that are both exciting and stressful: shopping on budget. Why do these three little words have such great power?

First off, it’s exciting because staying on budget is always the ultimate goal- you shouldn’t have to over spend for a nice top or a pair of flats.

Secondly, it’s stressful because of course these bargains don’t just fall into your lap, you have to hunt to find such great deals! But right now, you’re in luck.

If you’ve been in the whole “new year, new me” mindset and want to revamp your wardrobe, then look no further than *drumroll* Target.

Yes, yes it is true that Target is a magical kingdom full of possibilities, allure and currently, really great deals. You see, I found myself strolling the aisles of Target a couple days ago and found myself in shock and awe. I don’t really know why I was so surprised, I used to work in retail and completely understand the timing of sales, but I had never seen Target with a bigger clearance section.

As you all know, the holidays have ended and spring is just around the corner. The seasons are changing and so are the clothes. I scoped out clothing, shoes, and bags/accessories. I found purses on clearance for under 20$, cute ballet flats for only $12, and racks of unsold dresses, tops, and jeans.

With all these great deals going on, it would be easy to go crazy and buy things you don’t need. However the overall idea here is not to overspend. I’m always looking for the next best deal, so when I do stumble across a great sale I look at all the discounted items and think about what I really need.

Most of the time, I have a mental note in my head of all the things I’m on the prowl for and if I find what I’m looking for at a reasonable price then I’ll snatch it up. Maybe I am in need of new flats or maybe I need nicer tops- be picky about your options and don’t succumb to “but it was only 8$”.

Moral of the story, I don’t believe any woman (or any man) should have to pay an arm and a leg for clothing. I was never seriously into the whole representing a name brand trend (although, in middle school it was all about Aeropostale or Abercrombie & Fitch. Don’t lie, you probably had a puka shell necklace too).

I always believed that you should dress smart if you want to look sharp. Hunt the bargains, buy staple items and look flawless. This doesn’t mean that looks are everything, but it is hinting at the idea that your brains or talent is not the first thing a person sees. Your clothing speaks for you before you even open your mouth. If you want to be taken seriously, dress nice. Be clean, brush your hair, don’t wear clothes with snags or holes.

Be thorough with how you dress and present yourself. Even if you’re not trying to impress anyone, do it for yourself. Or do it for that instagram photo.

Oscar Wilde once said “You can never be overdressed or overeducated,” a quote I think about daily.

So go scope out your local Target and find some great deals!

Until next time,
